Understanding Holistic Counselling

A space to understand yourself a little more honestly

What is Holistic Counselling?

Holistic counselling is a reflective process that considers you as a whole person. Rather than focusing only on one problem or experience, it explores the connection between your thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, relationships, and the way you move through life.

Sessions are guided by conversation, careful listening, and thoughtful questions. I create space for you to slow down, reflect on what feels present for you, and begin to see yourself and your experiences with greater clarity.

Holistic counselling is not about becoming a different person or finding a quick solution. It is a process of exploring your experiences, recognising patterns, reconnecting with your needs and values, and building a healthier relationship with yourself.

It sits alongside other forms of support. It is not coaching focused on achieving specific goals or outcomes, and it is not clinical therapy or a diagnostic service. Instead, it offers a reflective and supportive space for self-exploration and personal growth.

At Yohanashi, every session is shaped around you. There are no prescribed answers and no single way of working. The approach is collaborative, and the focus is on supporting your own process of understanding, growth, and change.

What This Process Can Support

Holistic counselling is not about fixing yourself.
It is about creating space to meet yourself with curiosity, compassion, and honesty.

Over time, this process may support you in:

✦ Understanding your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with more clarity.

✦ Recognising patterns and beliefs that influence how you see yourself and the world.

✦ Reconnecting with your needs, values, and personal boundaries.

✦ Developing greater self-compassion and self-trust.

✦ Making choices that feel more aligned with the life you want to create.

Who This May Support

Holistic counselling may be supportive if you are:

✦ Feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure of what you need.

✦ Moving through a period of change, transition, or uncertainty.

✦ Wanting to understand your emotions and experiences more deeply.

✦ Looking for space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters to you.

✦ Hoping to create a more supportive relationship with yourself.

What This Looks Like for You

Every session is different because every person is different. There is no fixed formula. What stays consistent is the pace: attentive, thoughtful, and guided by what feels most present for you.

A session may begin with a simple grounding practice to help you arrive and settle into the space. From there, the conversation opens naturally.

You might talk about something that has been on your mind, a situation you are navigating, a feeling you cannot quite place, or something that has been taking up more space than you would like.

Through careful listening and thoughtful questions, I help you gently explore what may be underneath what you are sharing. Sometimes, when we are overwhelmed or disconnected from ourselves, it can be difficult to see our own thoughts and experiences clearly.

Together, we slow things down, untangle what feels confusing, and create space for new perspectives and understanding.

While conversation is at the heart of sessions, different forms of reflection may also be used depending on what feels supportive. This may include journaling, creative exercises, visualisation, mindfulness practices, or gentle movement. These tools are offered as invitations to explore your experiences in a way that feels natural for you.

A Gentle Note

The sessions and workshops offered at Yohanashi are not a form of clinical treatment and are not a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, or therapy.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require clinical support, please reach out to a qualified healthcare professional.

Yohanashi offers a thoughtful, grounded space for self-reflection, held with care, transparency, and respect for your own pace and autonomy.
